About Tongyeong Coast
The name Tongyeong comes from Samdo Sugun Tongjeyeong, the headquarters of the Joseon navy. Hansando, the island just offshore, is where Admiral Yi Sun-sin won the Battle of Hansando in 1592.
The novelist Pak Kyongni was born in this city, and the composer Isang Yun grew up in Tongyeong. Many artists have come out of this landscape of sea and islands.
Islands large and small stretch into Hallyeohaesang National Park, and fishing boats come and go from the harbor. In May the sea grows brighter and the wind turns gentle.
While you listen
It paints a May sea that's bright without getting carried away. Listen on a good day, when you want to keep that feeling quietly for a long time.
Getting there
Take a bus from Seoul, Busan or elsewhere to Tongyeong Bus Terminal, then a city bus to the waterfront.
