About Seomjingang River

The Seomjingang River begins at Demisaem spring in Jinan, North Jeolla, and flows into Gwangyang Bay on the south coast. Along its lower reaches, Gwangyang in Jeolla and Hadong in Gyeongsang face each other across the river.

The riverside slopes of Daap-myeon in Gwangyang are full of plum trees. When they bloom in early spring the hillsides turn white, the area is called Plum Blossom Village, and a festival is held around this time.

In early spring, while the wind is still cold, the blossoms come first and petals fall onto the river. It's a short season when winter and spring share the same place.

While you listen

Cello and piano speak to each other carefully. Listen on a day when someone you haven't been in touch with for a long time suddenly comes to mind.

Getting there

Take a bus to Gwangyang, or to Hadong across the river, then a local bus toward Plum Blossom Village in Daap-myeon. It gets crowded when the blossoms are out.
