About Busan Sanbok-doro
Sanbok-doro means a road that runs across the waist of a mountain. In Busan the mountains come down almost to the sea, so houses and roads were laid in tiers up the slopes.
During the Korean War, refugees poured into Busan and houses filled the hillsides. The roads linking those neighborhoods became today's Sanbok-doro.
From Sanbok-doro you can look over the rooftops down to the harbor and the sea. On days of long monsoon rain, rainwater runs down the stairs and alleys.
While you listen
It was made in the mood of leaning by a window and watching a long monsoon rain. On a rainy day with nowhere to hurry, listen slowly to the very end.
Getting there
Near Busan Station or Choryang Station on Subway Line 1, you can catch a village bus that runs along Sanbok-doro.
